550 Boyscouts converge in Rye Patch

On Jan 22 The Coastal Empire Chapter of the Boy Scouts held their father and son Freeze out at The Rye Patch Horse Farm and Clubhouse for the weekend. 35 Troops from 13 counties participated in the 30th year Freeze out. As a result of selling camp blue heron boy scout camp in Riceboro, there was no place to accommodate such a large crowd of boy scouts, tents and area enough to have activities most important of which was a gun range. Rye Patch Horse Farm was the ideal venue for such an event, in fact it worked out so well a summer event may be held here. If the new scout camp is not complete in Effingham County we anticipate them returning to Rye Patch again next January as well. Tim Works owner of the clubhouse in rye patch and rye patch horse farm said The boy scouts knew this was such the ideal place, so they made it home to four peacocks that were released on the property for others to enjoy along with other wildlife. The buffalo was also really fascinating and their annual freeze out Patch had the buffalo head embroidered on it. It was a lot of work, but as an old boyscout himself, Tim knows it is for a worthy cause, hoping these young boys will grow up to be a little better than the average boy, and a good learning experience as well.

Thanks Tim Works
